Program Overview

• Literature is an ever#009933 domain, the BA Honours programme in English lets students explore the nuances of Literature in genres such as poetry, prose, and others.
• The programme lets students hone their English skills for communication at the business level. Students are also imparted research skills whilst educating them about their importance.

• The programme aims to provide a strong foundation of theory and practice in specific fields that will enable students to utilize their academic learning in their respective careers.
• Special emphasis is laid on the development of critical thinking, analytical ability, written and oral presentation skills. This is a vibrant and dynamic undergraduate programme, supported by ongoing research at the School of Social Sciences & Humanities.

Course Outcome

• Students will be able to understand the range, significance and scope of English Literature and the growth and evolution of the Language.
• A holistic development of an understanding of English Poetry of the 19th and 20th Centuries, and acquirement of rudiments of Rhetoric and Prosody.
• Close reading of some specific texts, enable students to examine the themes and structures and scope of Elizabethan drama and Anti-sentimental comedy.
• Advancement of their acquaintance with fiction and non- fiction of writers from the Jacobean period to the 20th Century.
• Understanding of antiquated vocabulary and structures and capability to appreciate the work of great writers of the 16th to the 18th centuries.

• The English Education MA offers a stimulating and intellectually rigorous programme of academic and professional development, including supervised experience of the conduct of small-scale research.
• Designed to enable more theoretically informed praxis, it is relevant to practitioners with an interest in the teaching of English, language, literature, media and drama, across all phases of education.
